AU Senate Select Committee on EV Released Inquiry Report

The Senate established the Select Committee on Electric Vehicles to inquire into the use and manufacture of electric vehicles in Australia.

In 2018, the Senate established the Select Committee on Electric Vehicles to inquire into the use and manufacture of electric vehicles in Australia. Their report provides 17 evidence-based recommendations to the Australian Government which aim to help Australia accelerate EV uptake, while also managing the risks, and support Australian industry to capitalise on the significant opportunities presented by a transition to EVs.

The committee relied heavily on Energeia’s report for the CEFC and ARENA when developing their recommendations, which focused on the role of the government in facilitating the transition to electric vehicles in Australia, as well as modelling the likely uptake and electricity network impacts of electric vehicle charging under a range of policy scenarios.
